A treat for Base fans. In watching my films you would notice there are frequent cameos from these mysterious figures. For Halloween this year they’re back in my first mostly AI project (except the sound, that’s me)
For those interested in the workflow I used a still from the last shot in Episode 5 of Insomnia as a reference that I fed to Google’s Gemini 2.5 (aka Nano Banana) using ChatGPT to help clean up the prompts. This got me stills. Remove Nano’s watermark in Photoshop. Then feed said image into a trial version of Runway MT – their trial gives you 125 credits. A usual 5 sec render is 25 credits, 10 sec is 50. So you can get through your trial credits pretty quickly. However if you use a good VPN and plenty of disposable temp email addresses you can get a hefty supply of trial credits. It’s a slow process but saves you money. Finally you’ll need to remove Runway’s watermark using After Effects content-aware fill or just sclae/crop the clip to hide the watermark.
Oh and there are two other very important things you need that AI doesn’t provide – a vision and lots of imagination.
