“Brian’s Cruisers!” & AI

The project formerly known (for the past 23 years) as A Life of Brian has undergone a modest but long-overdue rebrand.

The original title had always slightly troubled me. While it began as an affectionate nod to the Monty Python film — with the addition of an “A” for Anthony — it increasingly felt as though the project was leaning a little too heavily on borrowed cultural shorthand. Over time, the work itself grew far beyond that reference, and the name no longer seemed to do it justice.

From this point on, the project will be known as “Brian’s Cruisers!.

To mark the occasion, I’ve been revisiting archival material and, with the assistance of AI in all its current splendour, rediscovering — and occasionally reimagining — the film’s original spirit. AI remains very much in its formative years, and like all things learning to walk, its output can be alternately impressive, baffling, and unintentionally amusing.

Which brings us neatly to this new film: a montage of AI-generated moments that range from the genuinely inspired to the gloriously misguided.

Please enjoy.

It’s their 10th wedding anniversary, and high school sweethearts Dick and Evi Chisholm are celebrating with a second honeymoon on the Norfolk Broads. But ‘Brian’s Cruisers!’ is no average boatyard, and the ever-charming yet oddly unsettling owner, Brian, and his wife Tallulah, have a peculiar way of ‘bringing the Broads to your boat.’ Can Dick and Evi navigate these choppy waters, or will this honeymoon sink their relationship for good?
